Todd West

Todd West

Todd enters his tenth season as head coach and 14th overall with the American University program. In his nine seasons as head coach, West has fashioned a program known as a creative, attacking and possession oriented program. He has also instilled a tireless, fiery and competitive team spirit within the program. He has guided the AU Eagles to three NCAA Tournament appearances including a trip to the Sweet 16 and two second round appearances. AU plays one of the most competitive schedules that Division I soccer has to offer, regularly scheduling matches against top programs such as Boston College, Connecticut, Duke, Maryland, New Mexico, North Carolina, Ohio State, Old Dominion, Penn State, St. Johns, Virginia, Virginia Tech and Wake Forest. The AU Eagles play in the very competitive Patriot League and finished in 2008 as the Regular Season Co-Champions.

Todd has also worked as an Assistant Coach for the U.S. U-20 National Team. He was also an Assistant Coach with D.C. United and has coached U.S. Soccer Regional Teams in international competitions in Germany, Italy, Spain and France.

Jeff Kinney

Jeff Kinney

Jeff Kinney enters his seventh season at American University on the coaching sidelines. In his first two years he served as the second assistant but was elevated to first assistant coach prior to the 2005 season. A 2003 graduate of AU, Kinney was known as one of the toughest players on the team, dominating play in the midfield. Coach Kinney has been involved with top level youth soccer in the area these past six years. His club teams have won numerous national tournaments and have been consistently ranked in the top-10 in the country. He has worked with the Region I staff as well as the D.C. United Youth Development Program. He held the position of Director of Coaching for RFC, formerly known as the Reston Football Club, a nationally prominent club. He is currently working with DC United’s u18 Academy team.

Kris Hazard

Kris Hazard

Kris is entering his second year as an Assistant Coach at American University. He brings to AU prior experience as a collegiate head coach and is known for his ability to identify talent. He has 7 years college coaching experience and holds a Nation “A” Coaching license.

Steve Totten

Steve Totten

Steve is entering his second year as First Assistant Coach at Princeton University of the Ivy League. Prior to Princeton, Coach Totten was an Assistant Coach with American University. He has extensive experience coaching youth club teams ranked in the top ten in the U.S. Steve was a standout player for the University of Virginia. He also played in Major League Soccer before injury ended his professional career.

Nick Stames

Nick Stames

Nick enters his 14th year as an AU Assistant Coach and his 10th as an Eagle Goalkeeper coach for American University. Under his guidance, AU Keeper Michael Behonick developed into one of the finest goalkeepers in the U.S. and was drafted in the MLS Super Draft of 2003. Nick was a standout keeper for George Mason University where he led the Colonials to two NCAA Tournament appearances and one Colonial League championship.
